Dr Trivedi is a highly respected consultant in liver medicine (hepatology), gastroenterology, and transplant medicine. With expertise in a wide range of liver and gastrointestinal conditions, he specialises in autoimmune liver diseases such as primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), fatty liver disease, genetic liver disorders, and inflammatory bowel disease. After graduating from St. George’s Hospital Medical School in 2005, Dr Trivedi completed foundation training in Kent, Surrey, and Sussex before undertaking specialist training in internal medicine and gastroenterology in the Oxford Deanery. He then embarked on award-winning doctoral research at the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) in Birmingham, focusing on the role of gut inflammation in autoimmune liver disease. His research achievements include accolades for contributions to liver medicine and transplantation.
Dr Trivedi’s leadership extends beyond clinical practice. He is an Associate Professor at the NIHR Birmingham Biomedical Research Centre, Chief Investigator for the UK-Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis Consortium, Chair of the British Association for the Study of the Liver Immune-Mediated Liver Disease Special Interest Group, and a steering committee member of global study groups for PBC and PSC. He leads over 25 clinical trials and has published more than 90 peer-reviewed articles, including 50 in the past five years. His work centres on gut-liver immunity, the natural history of rare liver diseases, and symptom-targeted therapies.
Dr Trivedi is also an accredited gastrointestinal endoscopist, skilled in variceal surveillance, banding, and treating gastrointestinal bleeding. Committed to medical education, he leads gastroenterology and hepatology training for Birmingham medical students, supervises PhD candidates, and serves as an examiner for postgraduate researchers nationally and internationally.
